Darwin’s Rare Book Found On Toilet Bookshelf

We regularly talk about evolution and how the environment around us keeps changing with time. And when we share such a chat, it’s nearly impossible to actually miss out the name of the great person who actually discovered this change around us.

Charles Darwin, renowned for his Theory of Evolution that changed our prospect of thinking about the nature, is the person in limelight today. An auction house recently announced the selling of the rare book on evolution named “On the Origin of Species”, from its very first edition that was published in the year 1859.

Christie’s Auction house on Sunday made an announcement that it had found a copy of the great book that had about 1,250 copies printed in its first edition. And yes, surprisingly the book was found on the toilet bookshelf of a family’s guest lavatory in Southern England, Oxford. And to its prestige, the book will be auctioned on Tuesday, the 150th anniversary of this famous work.

The book is likely to be auctioned at a price near about £60,000. The book is an outline of the natural selection method – the modern understanding of the process of evolution. Darwin’s theory was the breaking law which gave us an idea about mutations and evolution of the species to fight for living against the harsh and changing weather and climatic conditions.

This year marks the celebration of the 200th birth anniversary of Charles Darwin, the Father of Evolution, who was also known for his writing skills for his Geology based book “The voyage of Beagle”. Darwin is also known as a prolific writer who had published several books on South America as a geologist. But, got famous for his work as a biologist who published his work on the barnacles.
