Friedel de wet, a well known bowler from South Africa team has been withdrawn from Thursday’s test match and from the finals as well due to his back injury. This 29 years old player suffered suddenly from a recurrence of a back problem in last week’s drawn test, in Cape Town, which was against England.

And Wayne Parnell, an uncapped left armer is likely to replace Friedel for the series finale, which is going to start on Thursday at Wanderers in Johannesburg. In spite of playing in nine one dayers, Parnell is yet to make his test debut.

Mickey Arthur, the coach of south Africa said that de wet’s injury is a long-term problem and so he won’t be training with them for that week. He felt sorry for him and also said that this happened with him in the fifth over of the very first innings in Cape Town, he was allowed to come in with by giving him some injections but after which he suffered from this serious back injury for another 20-odd overs.

Also, Arthur calls Parnell as a “huge Talent” and says that he has a real chance of playing due to his speed.  As they want three strike bowlers, Wayne Parnell would be one amongst them. The coach further says that even though “he is young in terms of first class cricket, but with the time he will be matured and is very happy to see him as a part of board.

As well know South Africa has already withdrawn Imran Tahir from their squad from the finals as they fear that he is yet not eligible to play.

According to the news reports, Cricket South Africa would be quite certain of his eligibility before allowing him to play.
