Russia made an important decision on Wednesday for saving the planet from the probable horrific collision between an asteroid named Apophis and our home, Earth. According to the reports, an Armageddon act is to be planned soon by Russia for saving the planet from the huge asteroid possibly to colloid with Earth in the next few years.

The Head of Russia’s Space agency stated on Wednesday that the country would be considering sending a special spacecraft to the asteroid. The main aim of this spacecraft will be that of averting the collision by diverting the path of the asteroid.

In an interview with the Golos Rossi Radio, Anatoly Perminov from the space agency, stated that the Russian space agency will soon be planning a meeting with the other major space centers like NASA, the Chinese Space agency and the European Space Agency. And the main subject of the meeting will be that of assessing the mission to the asteroid, once it is finalized.

This 270m asteroid was most primarily discovered in the year 2004, and since its discovery it is being studied by the astronomers. The astronomers at that point estimated that the possibility of Apophis striking the earth is as high as 1 in 37 and that it would probably strike in the year 2029. However, with the passing time, this possibility has just lowered.

In the later studies performed on Apophis, the impact due on 2029 was simply ruled out based on the latest data. According to this study it was estimated that the asteroid would not be closing in on earth and thus the chances of the impact was just minimal. Similar results were also produced that mentioned the year of impact to be 2036 and 2068 with possibilities of 1 in 45,000 and 1 in 330,000 respectively.

However the fact cannot be denied that the asteroid is constantly moving closer and is believed to hit our home planet by 2032. Perminov said, “People’s lives are at stake. We should pay several hundred million dollars and build a system that would allow to prevent a collision, rather than sit and wait for it to happen and kill hundreds of thousands of people,”

Adding to this he further stated, “Calculations show that it’s possible to create a special purpose spacecraft within the time we have, which would help avoid the collision without destroying it (the asteroid) and without detonating any nuclear charges,” He thus said that the collision can be successfully averted.

Security breach

Looking for an answer to the catastrophic security breach that occurred on the Dec 25^th in the Detroit based flight, President Barak Obama asked for a detailed explanation of how the situation went out of control.

The US President asked for details that could clear the fog from the topic and also all possible ways that could be implemented to better secure the US skies from such situations in the future. He said that he is waiting for a detailed report on what actually went wrong with the security systems that gave way to this security breach.  He stated, “It’s essential we diagnose the problems quickly.” He further added, “a systemic failure has occurred” which gave way to this “catastrophic breach of security”.

A 23 year old Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab passed through all the security checks in Lagos and also Amsterdam and the metal detectors used to check all the passengers, failed to spot the weapon he was carrying. Abdulmutallab, the suspect was carrying a chemical named PETN filled in a syringe and tried to ignite it to give result to his mission. However, he was grabbed and not allowed to ignite the explosive which otherwise would have created a massive explosion mid-air killing the passengers on the Christmas Eve.

The Nigerian was allowed to fly to the United States, in-spite of the several warnings given by the suspect’s father. It is really difficult understanding on how the passenger was allowed to board the flight despite the warnings and the failed detections. Trying to figure out the loop holes in the case, the US Officials are now grilling every related person in order to learn about the failure that could have caused havoc in the States.

It is important to take the desired measures so as to prevent any similar case in the future for the security of the country and the citizens.

Tehreek-e-Taliban

Wajid Shamsul Hassan, Pakistan’s high Commissioner to Britain made a jolting revelation that moved the entire nation. In an interview with a private television channel, Hassan reported that Baitullah Mehsud, the chief of Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) could never have taken the drastic step of proceeding with his dreadful plans without the nod of Musharraf. He said that the chief could surely not go ahead and succeed in his plan of assassinating Bhutto, unless the affirmation from the General.

He further went on to reveal that if Benazir would have been alive today, the problems on Musharraf would have been doubled without any doubt. Hassan was found quoting to The Daily Times, “Had Benazir been alive, Musharraf would have been facing legal action for murdering former Baluchistan governor Nawab Akbar Bugti, and removing the chief justice of Pakistan”.

Hassan also said that Musharraf is believed to have offered a vast amnesty by the National Reconciliation Ordinance to the PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) Chief Nawaz Shariff that hence allowed him to easily leave the country based on the Military coup in the year 1998.

On the occasion of her second death anniversary, a large mass of people throughout Pakistan paid their heartfelt tribute to their slain minister. Most people were seen offering a special prayer for her soul’s peace. On the other hand, the close family mates called onto the government for identifying the killers of Benazir and thus bring her to justice.

The entire country remembered their caring and highly responsible leader and organized special prayers and condolence services for the peace of her soul. Special meetings were also planned throughout the country, including Naudero the ancestral town of Bhutto for commemorating the death of their leader. President Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of Benazir Bhutto also travelled all the way to Naudero to attend meetings for her departed soul.

Northwest Airlines Flight

The same Northwest Airlines Flight which faced problems on the Christmas Day, encountered similar trouble once again, making the crew members take the help of the emergency assistance. The problem arose due to a probable disruptive passenger who was arrested later on by the FBI. However, the entire incident was later on said to be a “Non-Serious Incident,” by the FBI.

The seized passenger from the flight is also an Nigerian National whose name wasn’t revealed publically by the US higher authorities. The passenger was later released by the FBI after the US Customs and the Border Police with the support of the FBI failed to find any concrete threatening materials from the luggage of the passenger. The passenger was tagged as “Not a Security risk” by the officials and was then released without any harm.

The crew members of the flight got highly concerned about the situation after it faced a much similar incidence on Friday, during the Christmas Eve. The flight faced a failed attempt of an Nigerian National to blow up the passenger flight and so, reacted severely to this situation. The passenger became sick and later locked himself into the bathroom for more than an hour, and this is what triggered the false alarm in the flight.

The incident created a scare in the passengers traveling frequently through the airlines and various others, waiting at the Detroit Airport. This was the second such incidence that occurred within a small time period of just 50 hours.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was the passenger on Friday, who tried to blow up the passenger airbus, but was however grabbed by the passengers and later by the crew. The similarity of the two cases was what created the havoc in the plane. Clearing the cloud from the case, the FBI said that the incidence was a completely, “non-serious and the suspect was not a security threat.”

Entire Nepal seemed to be in a shock when a severe allegation made by a former royal bodyguard surfaced in the hilly country.

Lal Bahadur Magar, currently serving the prison in Birjung due to a charge of killing a couple, alleged that he was a royal bodyguard and was the sole person to witness the horrific massacre of the royal family in the year 2001.

Magar claimed that Gyanendra was the center of various conspiracies, including the massacre that killed his elder brother Birendra and most of his family members. Birendra was much more popular amongst the people and held a higher order of respect which was believed to be a likely reason behind the massacre that took place in the palace in 2001. According to the reports, Dipendra, the then crown prince was in high spirits due to a cocktail of drugs along with a lot of alcohol, who then triggered the massacre killing most of the royal members.

According to the allegations made by Magar quoting to the RSS agency said that the former crown Prince Of Nepal, Paras was also one of the main people behind the conspiracy. Magar was one of the bodyguards of Deependra at the time of the massacre. He made these allegations when the Maoist parliamentarian of the country, Leela Kumar Baga went to the jail to meet him this Thursday.

Gyanendra is on a personal visit in India, and received his passport for the very first time at the age of 64. Gyanendra vacated the huge palace in the year 2008, June after a 601 member assembly abolished the 240 year old monarchy of the country. The huge step was taken by the CPN-Maoist party emerged as the largest political party ever in the country through the assembly polls.

Today, the people are happy to see Gyanendra and his son Paras live a life more like a commoner who are forced to pay taxes under the various proposals passed through the Nepalese cabinet in the parliament.

Heavy snowfall

In a strong reaction to the much studied climatic problem of global warming, major parts in the US faced heavy snowfall in the past few days. The heavy snowfall is still expected to continue taking the snowfall to about 22 inches of snow in areas such as Baltimore-Washington till Sunday. The snowstorm is believed to be the strongest fall in these areas since February 2003.

Washington is thought to be one of the worst hit areas in the US which has experienced snowfall in several years. Washington saw a heavy snowfall falling at a rate of 2 inches an hour which thus forced the airports to be closed at until Sunday morning. Most of the flights from the Dulles International Airport have been cancelled. It is believed that the snowstorm caused a havoc due to which about 200 flights were cancelled at the O’Hare International Airport. About 60 other flights were cancelled from the nearby airports while a few delayed for about 20 minutes.

Christmas vacations

The flight cancellations disrupted the Christmas vacations of thousands of travelers in the US, stranding them from their holidays. However, there were some flights which were just delayed for over 45 minutes before taking off for their respective destinations.

Apart from the heavy snowfall, the country also faced a mix of sleet with the freezing rain which just started off early in the afternoon in the places like northwest Indiana and the northeast Illinois. Predicting the brutality of this heavy snowstorm, the National Weather Service raised concerns over a possible flood watch along with the chances of experiencing 3 inches of rain tomorrow. This extreme weather condition simply intensifies the climatic change the earth is experiencing which has become a major issue of concern for all environmentalists across the world.

The weather change disrupted the flights of about 60,000 passengers at Midway, while 190,000 others were expected to be at the O’Hare airport. The weather seems to be covering the fun of Christmas with its brutal white snow blanket which has covered a larger part of America along with Europe.

Flight cancellation

The snow ground resulted in the mass flight cancellation that heaped fresh misery on European travelers. On Tuesday due to freezing whether at least 90 people died and this brought a big chaos to the Christmas holidays planning.

But a pinch of relief was observed with the cross channel Eurostar trains began running between London and continental Europe on Tuesday after some four days of cancellations held responsible on powdery snow left tens and thousands stuck just before Christmas.

With this, sever winter also caused chaos at the airports across the Europe with the delayed flights or cancelled in Italy and Germany. Also, snow and ice caused huge problems in the road and railways. According to the Forecasters, there is possibility of more snow and ice in next 24 hours.

After the news that 2,500 people were trapped up to 16 hours on Saturday even Euro trains were cancelled. But then some limited service resumed on Tuesday with a Eurostar train left London’s St Pancars International station for Paris at 7:41am and another 1000 passengers still queued for the later trains. This created a quarrel between the passenger queuing at St Pancras and Eurostar staff complaining about lack of information.

Also the Britain’s airports were reported to be recovering from the blockage but the travelers were warned beforehand that there could be possibilities of delays and cancellations.

The snow and ice just disrupted air, road travel and train travel in one of the busy season of Christmas; as the roads were severely hit with the Britain’s AA breakdown service reported a record of 16000 breakdowns on Monday.

Reportedly Italian national carrier Alitalia restarted flights while the Malpensa airport resumed flights in early afternoon after all interruption. Also, Berlin’s Tegel airport was closed for an hour and 200 flights were cancelled at Frankfurt.

Due to this winter storms, with the -20 c temperature resulted all the distraction in the lives of the people.

On Sunday, Brittany Murphy an US actress dies at Los Angeles Hospital. She was just 32 years old. Murphy has acted in films like “Girl, Interrupted” and “Clueless”, but from last few years she was suffering from waning fortunes.

Brittany Murphy was declared dead at 10am PST (i.e. 1800 GMT) on Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre.  The actress mother found her in an unconscious state in her shower room at her Hollywood Hills home. She brought her to the hospital, where after two hours she was declared dead.

Murphy acted in films opposite to Ashton Kutcher, Angelina Jolie, Eminem and Michael Douglas. She tried lot to reach their level of success but failed. In past few years, she starred in mostly low budget movies.

Her former boyfriend, Kutcher wrote on Twitter page, “Today the world lost a little piece of sunshine. See you on the other side kid”.

Few days back Murphy was in news as she was fired from the set of the indie thriller “The Caller” of Puerto Rico. Murphy’s publicist used to say that this split occurred due to creative differences. After this, when Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack, a British screenwriter, were returning to Los Angeles, he lost his consciousness in the plane and was taken to hospital.

Murphy’s Small Screen Success

Brittany Murphy was born on 10^th November 1997 in Atlanta, and grown up in New Jersy. In 1990, she with her mother moved to Los Angeles to become a star. In 1995, she made her first breakthrough in a comedy feature “Clueless” acting as a frumpy school girl.

Thereafter she worked in many films with many co-stars. She also provided her voice in small screen cartoon series. She has given voice in cartoon series “King of the Hill” to Texan Luanne Platter. In 2006, she also voiced as a penguin in “Happy feet” and achieved success.

Murphy was seen last in theatres in a low budget thriller film known as “Across the Hall” which was released two weeks ago. She has also recently finished her work in Sylvester Stallone’s action film named as “The Expendables”.

According to the news report, 10 peoples were killed on Friday is in northwest Pak; Islamabad when a suicide car bomber dropped his explosives near a mosque inside a police compound. It was suspected that the attack was done by the Taliban militants who are waging war against the Pakistani government.

The campaign of violence has been started by the Taliban since the military launched a major offensive in mid-October in the militant stranglehold of South Waziristan on afghan border which is in Pakistan’s lawless tribal area.  And the Friday’s attack was second in two weeks near a mosque used by the Pakistan’s security force.

According to the areas’ police chief, Feroz Khan after the police were leaving the mosque following their Friday prayers, almost 10 people were killed in the attack in the lower dir region. Whereas, local hospital official said that the blast also wounded 28 people which were mostly police men.

Well, no group has taken any responsibility for the bombing as such but the Taliban has carried many similar attacks throughout the country. And this Lower Dir area which is next to Swat Valley; where Pakistani soldiers wrested from the Taliban in early of this year. But the attacks seemed to be continued in that area. These militants have also thespian attacks in Pakistani’s heartland; many of them were against the country’s security forces.

Also, on Dec 4 this team of militants equipped with guns, bombs and grenades attacked a mosque near army headquarters outside of Islamabad killing 36 people. And despite of the recent attack of violence, where 500 and more people were killed in past two months, the Pakistani military has vowed to continue its unpleasantness in South Waziristan and cark down on other militants who threaten the state.

In a two years old Brazilian boy’s body, 42 needles were found. These needles were inserted inside him during a black magic ritual. On Thursday, the Brazilian doctors arranged an emergency airlift after they discovered that two of the needles were also pierced in his heart.

The doctors who were looking after him said that the boy was brought to the cardiac specialist surgeon in the hospital of Salvador, located at the main city of the Bahia state. The boy was first hospitalized in Barreiras town which was nearer to his village on Sunday. From there he was shifted to the Salvador hospital.

Earlier the X-rays reports shows that there are around 50 needles struck much inside the toddler’s body including the torso, legs and neck. But, a careful examination shows that there are 42 needles pierce to the body and some are even very close to the vital organs also.

On Wednesday, 30 years old Roberto Carlos Magalhaes, the boy’s stepfather who was a labourer was arrested. The police said to the AFP that the boy’s stepfather has confessed that he has inserted the needles into the boy’s body one by one during black magic rites.

The police said that Magalhaes has done this to take revenge, to get back his wife. The man’s mistress has advised him to kill the child by a macabre ritual. So in each weekend, the man used to take the boy to a woman named Angelina who used to do black magic. And, she has ordered the man to prick the sewing needles into the child’s body.

In last weekend, the child starts vomiting after one of the needles perforated his lung, and also complains stomach pain to his mother, Maria Souza Santos who was 30 year old maid. So, the mother took him to the Barreiras hospital where she came to know about the needles pierce in her child. She said that she doesn’t know how the needles got into the child’s body. But, she told to the reporters that she has found some objects used in black magic in her home, including a bottle of cachaca rum.

The doctors get puzzled how to treat the boy and planned to remove the needles. They said that some of the needles can’t be taken out as there is high risk. On late Wednesday, the doctors find two needles in left ventricle of boy’s heart which makes the surgery very complicated, so they shift the boy to the cardiac specialized hospital in Salvador on Thursday morning.

Since the boy is in conscious state but in a very serious condition.
