Giant Iceberg Spotted South Of Australia

12.10.2009 · Posted in World News

On Wednesday, the scientists said that a big iceberg, maybe twice the Hong Kong island size, has been noticed roving nearer towards the south of Australia. The scientist said that this type of event occurs nearly once in a century.

Neal Young, an Australian glaciologist using a satellite imaginary, located that the monster iceberg which is drifting nearer is about 1,700 kilometres away from the south of Australia and is about 19 kilometres long.  He said that the ice berg is probably 140 square kilometres i.e. 54 square miles. And the surface area of Hong Kong Island is about 80 square kilometres which is nearly half of the iceberg seen. So, imagine how big the iceberg would be.

He also said that since 19th century the clipper ships are travelling in that trade route between Australia and Britain, but they have never seen or noticed such a big iceberg in that area.

Neal Young from the Australian Antarctic division and a member of Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre told to AFP that he didn’t know any such situation occurring from long time.

The glaciologist said that the iceberg seen may be carved out from the Antarctic nearly about 10 years ago and is slowly floating around in an unusual route. He said that in original it was a very big iceberg nearly about 400 square kilometres and has been split into two or many pieces. This piece of iceberg has been survived in the open ocean from many years. And in the ocean, it is slowly floating in the north or north east direction and is coming nearer to the south of Australia.

This iceberg comes to be known when two icebergs not so large like this one, were found further in the east in the Macquarie Island of Australia, and more than 100 smaller ice chunks were noticed moving towards new Zealand.

Neal young said that this is an uncommon situation but can be more frequent, if the sea temperature goes on rising due to global warming.

Earlier, the assembly had approved the bill and the government of New York David Paterson was the strongest advocate of the bill, who had pledged to sign the gay marriage bill. An election was held to pass the bill among the state Senate. 32 votes were needed to pass the bill but it failed by more than expected margin of eight votes.

Gay marriage is considered legal in Lowa, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts. And from 1st January the gay marriage will also become legal in New Hampshire.

After the voting was over on Wednesday, for the government David Paterson stated that it was the saddest day in his 20 years of public service, as the gay marriage bill was rejected. After the voting was over, the government criticized those senates those who have earlier supported gay marriage but didn’t vote for it.

4 Dead Despite Of H1N1 Vaccination

12.03.2009 · Posted in World News

Beijing: In a very shocking report submitted by the Chinese ministry of health, a revelation was made about the mysterious death of 4 people affected by the H1N1 flu. However, these patients were vaccinated by the flu’s newly designed vaccine. The confirmation report of these deaths came only after 26 million people in china were vaccinated within weeks of preparing the vaccine during the deadly outbreak of the flu.

The vaccines have been tested and tried in the labs for their curative effect on the flu, and only then injected into the patients suffering from the flu. The Chinese ministry, further clarified, that 3 of these 4 deaths were not related to the vaccine and was a mere coincidence that these patients died even after the vaccination shots. However, the death of the 4th person is yet to be examined. The clarification came from Liang Wannian, the director of the Chinese Ministry’s Emergency response,

Furthermore, Liang also said that suspected deadly reactions in 2,867 patients have been reported after the inoculation of the vaccine. Nearly the most common reaction of the vaccine was that of swelling and fever.

“Clinical tests and practices in China and other countries have shown the A/H1N1 flu vaccines are safe,” Liang said.

In china, the flu is believed to have affected about 90,000 people and nearly 80% of the people have been cured from the flu through the vaccine. However, the country was unable to save about 178 people suffering from the flu until Sunday.

The health ministry official also said that the effect of the flu was still severe in the country as new cases are still being registered by the municipalities in the country. One main cause of this high increasing number of swine flu cases is the warning given by the ministry to punish any official who tries to hide the infection incidents.

The Chinese ministry reacted strongly after doctor Zhong Nanshan, (well known for breaking the ice on the cover up of the SARS in the year 2003,) after he expressed his doubts on the number of reported fatalities in the country.
