Deposed King Gyanendra Involved In 2001 Royal Massacre
Entire Nepal seemed to be in a shock when a severe allegation made by a former royal bodyguard surfaced in the hilly country.
Lal Bahadur Magar, currently serving the prison in Birjung due to a charge of killing a couple, alleged that he was a royal bodyguard and was the sole person to witness the horrific massacre of the royal family in the year 2001.
Magar claimed that Gyanendra was the center of various conspiracies, including the massacre that killed his elder brother Birendra and most of his family members. Birendra was much more popular amongst the people and held a higher order of respect which was believed to be a likely reason behind the massacre that took place in the palace in 2001. According to the reports, Dipendra, the then crown prince was in high spirits due to a cocktail of drugs along with a lot of alcohol, who then triggered the massacre killing most of the royal members.
According to the allegations made by Magar quoting to the RSS agency said that the former crown Prince Of Nepal, Paras was also one of the main people behind the conspiracy. Magar was one of the bodyguards of Deependra at the time of the massacre. He made these allegations when the Maoist parliamentarian of the country, Leela Kumar Baga went to the jail to meet him this Thursday.
Gyanendra is on a personal visit in India, and received his passport for the very first time at the age of 64. Gyanendra vacated the huge palace in the year 2008, June after a 601 member assembly abolished the 240 year old monarchy of the country. The huge step was taken by the CPN-Maoist party emerged as the largest political party ever in the country through the assembly polls.
Today, the people are happy to see Gyanendra and his son Paras live a life more like a commoner who are forced to pay taxes under the various proposals passed through the Nepalese cabinet in the parliament.
